Throw An Egg Hatch Times: How Long a Placed Egg Takes to Hatch

Egg hatch times in Throw An Egg vary by egg: every placed egg shows its own countdown, from seconds for starter eggs to hours for top-tier eggs.

There is no single hatch time in Throw An Egg — every egg sets its own. As soon as you carry an egg back to your base and place it in your pen, the egg displays a countdown of how long is left before it can hatch. Small starter eggs finish in seconds, mid-tier eggs take minutes, and the top-tier eggs observed needed 30 minutes to about three hours. Read the number on the egg itself; that is the real wait for that egg.

How the hatch countdown works

  1. Throw an egg into the map and collect it (see how to collect eggs).
  2. Carry it back to your base and place it in your pen.
  3. A countdown appears on the placed egg and ticks down.
  4. When the timer finishes, the egg is marked ready to hatch.
  5. Hold the interact button on the egg to open it. The animal hatches and starts producing cash per second.

Watch your pen space while timers run: the pen holds a limited number of eggs, and once it is full you cannot place new ones until you hatch what is waiting. The beginner guide walks through the full first cycle, hatching included.

Observed hatch times

Hatch waits rise with egg quality. These countdowns come from real placed eggs — treat them as examples of the range, not fixed durations per tier:

Egg observedCountdown shown on placement
Free starter eggabout 20 seconds
Mystery eggabout 16 seconds
Epic eggmore than 20 seconds
Rare and legendary-tier eggsabout 1 to 7.5 minutes
Divine egg30 minutes
Ocean eggabout 3 hours

Timers land in between too — one placed egg had only a minute left, and another sat at 56 minutes. If you are chasing top-tier eggs, expect the longest waits, and see our guide to big eggs.

Managing the wait

  • Fill the pen before going AFK. A common routine is to place every egg you can before stepping away, then come back to a batch of ready-to-hatch animals at once.
  • Place the long timers first. A 30-minute divine or a three-hour ocean egg will not be ready in a short sitting, so get those down early.
  • Don't clog the pen with slow eggs. If every slot is a long timer, you can't add fresh eggs until one of them finishes.

Skipping a hatch timer

If you would rather not wait, paid skips exist:

  • The shop lists developer products named Skip Common Egg timer (R$3), Skip Uncommon Egg Timer (R$7) and Skip Rare Egg Timer (R$12) — Robux purchases that remove the hatch wait for the matching egg category. Prices come from an observed shop listing and can change.
  • A skip option was also seen on an egg itself during play: one player with a divine egg counting down from 30 minutes skipped it on the spot, and the hatch opened immediately. The cost of that skip wasn't shown.

By name, skips are confirmed only for Common, Uncommon and Rare eggs; skips for higher tiers are not ruled out. New to the game? Start with the Throw An Egg beginner guide.
